A 1950s home was lifted from a 1 to 6 star energy rating, with 3 storeys for 3 generations and improved connection to new generous outdoor rooms.
4 separate zones and secluded corners allow the large family to occupy different ends of the house, and night workers to sleep during the day.
A soaring central staircase strings the spaces together, and most of the rooms are stacked to avoid building in to the small back garden.
A hidden lift and secret sleeping and study spaces add surprises where we could find them.
A new flat roof gives sun and city views to the back yard, that is terraced to maximise play areas.
High quality building and joinery culminate in the 10 metre long kitchen/dining/study bench made from Tasmanian hardwoods.
