A long 2 storey building was designed to maximise north sun to most rooms and elevate the shared social areas for water views.
A covered entry court and 2 large roof decks created open shaded outdoor rooms to buffer between the social and sleeping areas.
Thermal mass, trombe walls, large eaves, and shade hoods were sized to optimise passive solar design.
Native gardens, light cement sheeting, and weathering local timbers soften the building in its coastal setting.
