The mild temperate coastal location allowed an educational building where energy consumption could be delivered entirely by passive design.
Simple buildings were proposed with varying degrees of comfort, enclosure, and resultant building costs.  
Students would experience basic sleep out hutches, and outdoor bathrooms, along with more conventional bedrooms, and memorable solar common rooms featuring straw bale and trombe walls.
